Skate Canada Professional Coaches
Skate Canada trains and certifies their coaches under the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) standards set by the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC). All coaches must go through Skate Canada’s NCCP and hold an active status. Throughout coach training, coaches earn different NCCP statuses to further their coach qualifications. In this respect, a coach’s NCCP status reflects the level they are qualified to coach. Any coach instructing in Skate Canada clubs or schools must have an active NCCP status and be registered as a Skate Canada Professional Coach for the current membership season.

With over 25 years of coaching experience, CJ is a National-Level Figure Skating Coach who has trained athletes to national medals, international competitions, and a World Special Olympics title. A former Senior International Competitor, CJ also performed professionally with Disney on Ice for two years before transitioning into coaching.
CJ has taught skaters around the world in Artistic, Dance, Freeskate and Skills, bringing a technical, creative, and athlete-centered approach to every level. She holds Royal Conservatory Grade 8 (Honors with Distinction) and Grade 2 Theory, enriching her choreography and musical development work.
She has served as the Club Skating Director for over 10 years, guiding athlete pathways, programming, and long-term club growth.

Elizabeth is passionate about creating a positive, supportive environment where skaters build confidence, strong fundamentals, and a lifelong love of skating.

Sonya brings more than 25 years of coaching experience to her roles as a Provincial Coach Trained and Special Olympian Coach. She currently serves as the CanSkate Skating Director, overseeing both the CanSkate program (Skate Canada’s premier learn-to-skate program) and the Program Assistant initiative.
