Skating is for everyone! Whether you want to skate for fun or skate to win! #SkateWithUs!

Pre-STARSkate

Pre-STARSkate for 5-8-year-olds

Pre-STARSkate is a figure skating program offered in conjunction with the CanSkate program. Skaters at the CanSkate Stage 4 level are eligible for this program. Lessons are conducted in a group format, led by an NCCP-certified professional coach. Trained Program Assistants assist professional coaches.

Skaters who should consider this program are those interested in entering the Skate Canada STARSkate or Podium Pathway programs.

  • This program introduces skaters to the basic skills needed for the STARSkate or Podium Pathway program.
  • Skaters will be encouraged to practice their skills independently, a crucial aspect of the STARSkate program.
  • After completing this program, they are ready to move into the STARSkate program on the large ice surface and receive private instruction.
  • Skaters may attend this program for up to 2 years.
  • Skaters must receive an invitation from a coach before registering.
  • New to the club and think this is the correct program? Contact coach Sonya before registering.
  • The skater will receive a registration code to complete the registration process.
  • Professional figure skates are required.
  • Must be 5-8 years old.

Pre-STARSkate for 9-15-year-olds

This program will provide additional instruction to skaters who want to improve their figure skating skills but do not wish to advance to the next level (STARSkate).

  • Professional figure skates are required.
  • Must be 9-15 years old.
  • This is not a learn-to-skate program, and the focus will be on figure skating.
  • New to the club and think this is the correct program? Contact coach Sonya before registering.
  • The skater will receive a registration code to complete the registration process.

Adaptive Skating

At Skate Canada, we believe that athletes of all abilities should have equal opportunity to experience the joy of skating. Our adaptive skating offerings empower skaters with physical and cognitive disabilities or impairments to thrive on the ice.  Elements are tailored to their needs. Coaches and clubs collaborate with skaters and caregivers to create personalized plans so that skaters feel most confident on the ice.

  • Professional figure skates are required.
  • Must be 5-9 years old.
  • The skater will receive a registration code to complete the registration process.

If you are new to this program, here is what you will need to get on the ice:

A warm sweater or fleece coat, and a vest, if you have one. Leggings or maybe even sweatpants. Mittens are required. Anything a bit more form-fitting yet still warm. Whatever you wore for CanSkate (minus any snow pants) would work to get started. The coaches will help guide you :)
